Minnesota Considers Legislation to Curb Unruly Fan Behavior

What’s not OK is when fans use verbal threats, profanities, vulgarities or racial epithets toward officials or players, throw things at them, or get physical with them.

As a former deck official at swim meets, this article really caught my attention. I have never personally encountered such ill behavior at swim meets, but I have heard from other swim officials who also work other sports about bad situations. It also seems like there are articles every week about unruly spectators directing anger at officials, or worse, opposing players. I don’t know if this is the right solution to this growing problem, but I applaud the MN state legislature for taking on the problem.
