More Resignations and Shock at IAHS

February 11, 2022

Critics have claimed the Cahill family has far too much control of the society, that mismanagement had occurred, and that a thorough investigation of the non-profit was warranted.

The latest installment of the saga of the American Irish Historical Society is a bit out left field. (Baseball metaphor intended.)

Amongst new Board resignations (some Board members filling seats open because of prior resignations), the AIHS has announced its plans to move to Cooperstown, NY once its 5th Ave HQ has sold. Some kind of move, previously TBD, had been expected since the real estate was listed for sale roughly a year ago. (See previous post.) This latest move continues to draw the ire (pun also intended) of lots of folks, including the Irish Government, the NY state Attorney General and Irish Americans throughout the NYC metro area and beyond.

It’s a pretty big mess, and I don’t see a resolution anytime soon. Maybe someone could offer a betting line on which comes first, a resolution to the AIHS debacle or a United Ireland!
